CADRE is hosting an Employment Assistance Network kickoff meeting on November 17th from 3-4pm via Zoom.
After a disaster strikes, the ability to quickly recover is deeply connected to how fast people can get back to work, reigniting the economy and services provided in a region to support those returning and/or rebuilding. Despite this important aspects of recovery, after many disasters we see unemployment rates go up, as:
- Recovery work is contracted from outside of the area.
- People are unable to get child care while they work, as schools may still be closed.
- Rebuilding businesses and organizations that hire people can take long amounts of time.
To help address these issues, CADRE has developed an Employment Assistance Network, designed to connect organizations involved in employment services and child care to one another pre disaster, so that when a disaster impacts Santa Clara County, we can work together to ensure the local workforce is supporting recovery efforts and helping everyone recover more quickly. After a disaster, this network can also be connected to the other 19 Community Support Networks that CADRE has developed, including the Business & Community Network, to support this effort.
CADRE’s networks are designed to quickly connect organizations to one another and to disaster related information without giving you more work to do. Meetings will provide information on the network and disaster readiness, along with the opportunity to network with other organizations.
If you are unable to attend the meeting, but want to be a network member, please email [email protected] to note your interest and confirm your contact information, so that you are kept in the loop.
