MASS CARE SUPPORT NETWORK
Serving all Santa Clara County
The Mass Care Support Network convenes smaller organizations who can support mass care and sheltering efforts to connect them with the Red Cross and local government mass care services before and during disasters. This network will help streamline communication and connect organizations who are hosting spontaneous shelters, have identified unmet needs in their communities, and/or have resources/volunteers to support the larger emergency care and sheltering effort. The goal is to avoid redundancy of effort, facilitate collaborations, and identify/address unmet needs.
CADRE and the Red Cross are currently developing a Mass Care Committee to help prepare and train organizations to more effectively provide mass care within the structures that are already in place. More information will be provided as it becomes available
During an active disaster important information, announcements, and links will appear here.

OVERVIEW OF CADRE’S SUPPORT NETWORKS:
The Mass Care Support Network is one of 20 networks CADRE is developing to facilitate communication for nongovernmental organizations in Santa Clara County throughout the disaster cycle. These networks are broken up by different community services and functions to allow for more focused communication. The networks are designed to give organizations a way to quickly find and share information, collaborate, and communicate, before, during, and after disaster. Fill out the short Network Sign Up Form to ensure that you are included in updates about the networks you are interested in joining.
NETWORK UPDATES:
The Mass Care Support Network is currently being developed. Any updates to the network will be noted here.
COMMUNICATION TOOLS:
1.) Web page – This web page and the forms, lists, and map within it will be updated regularly and used for continuous network coordination and information sharing during disasters.
2.) Live Chat – As the network develops, they will decide upon a live chat platform for communication during disaster. This live chat platform will provide major disaster announcements, urgent updates and requests, and welfare checks on organizations to quickly understand disaster impacts and immediate needs.
3.) Meetings – The network will decide upon a regular meeting schedule as it is developed. During disasters, meetings will be expanded at the network leadership’s discretion and by request.
4.) Back up methods of communication may include emails, phone and in person meetings, and utilization of Ham Radio and/or information centers in the case of technological challenges during an emergency. These backups are still being developed and decided upon.
