Monday, September 30, 11:00 AM to Wednesday, October 2, 11:00 PM.
Temperatures. Up to 105 degrees
Life Threatening Risks
- Not drinking enough water
- Body temperature of 103 degrees or more
- Not sweating, weakness, rapid pulse, or disoriented
- Unable to keep a room temperature below 80 degrees
- Working outdoors in the heat
- Drugs or alcohol intake
- Mental illness
- Thinking that you’ll be okay without taking action
Increased Risk
- Drinking sugary drinks or caffeine
- People with medical conditions like diabetes, obesity, or cardiovascular disease
- Unhoused
- Infants & children
- Pregnant women
- Adults over 65 years old with no one to check on them
- Pets
Take Action
- Drink water often
- Check on vulnerable neighbors/family
- Wet towels for head, neck, arms
- Fans cool damp skin
- Place feet in cool water or take a cool bath/shower
- Find shade and a breeze
- Go to any public space with air conditioning
- Call 9-1-1 if someone feels unwell
- Offer free, cold water to people on the street
