AFN SUPPORT NETWORK
Serving all Santa Clara County
The Access and Functional Needs (AFN) Support Network brings together organizations that serve the community to ensure accessibility of resources and information for individuals with disabilities and other access and functional needs throughout the disaster cycle.
This network facilitates streamlined communication among those serving the AFN community, working as a compliment to the AFN committee, which is more project focused.

OVERVIEW OF CADRE’S SUPPORT NETWORKS:
The AFN Support Network is one of 20 networks CADRE is developing to facilitate communication for nongovernmental organizations in Santa Clara County throughout the disaster cycle. These networks are broken up by different community services and functions to allow for more focused communication. The networks are designed to give organizations a way to quickly find and share information, collaborate, and communicate, before, during, and after disaster. Fill out the short Network Sign Up Form to ensure that you are included in updates about the networks you are interested in joining.
NETWORK UPDATES:
The AFN Support Network is in its early stages of development. Any updates to the network will be noted here.
COMMUNICATION TOOLS:
1.) Web page – This web page and the forms, lists, and map within it will be updated regularly and used for continuous network coordination and information sharing during disasters.
2.) Live Chat – As the network develops, they will decide upon a live chat platform for communication during disaster. This live chat platform will provide major disaster announcements, urgent updates and requests, and welfare checks on organizations to quickly understand disaster impacts and immediate needs.
3.) Meetings – The network will decide upon a regular meeting schedule once fully developed. During disasters, meetings will be expanded at the network leadership’s discretion and by request.
4.) Back up methods of communication may include emails, phone and in person meetings, and utilization of Ham Radio and/or information centers in the case of technological challenges during an emergency. These backups are still being developed and decided upon.

Silicon Valley Independent Living Center
Silicon Valley Independent Living Center – PSPS
As California experiences different bouts of weather, we are subject to wildfires and high winds, causing public safety power shut-offs (PSPS). SVILC partnered with PG&E to provides financial and direct services to individuals affected by PSPS, who require the use of Assistive technology (AT) Durable Medical Equipment (DME).
SVILC is a hub that you can notify if you are using a device or equipment that requires electricity to sustain yourself, such as an oxygen machine, refrigerator for medication, etc.
If you have a disability that may be significantly affected by a power shut off, please contact our office to be listed on our Public Safety Power Shut-Off (PSPS) Event Call/E-mail List.
Our list is here to call and notify you if you are in a potential shut off zone and provide further safety information.
